The Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook- Simply DELLightful

The Dell XPS 13 was released earlier this month by the American manufacturer, and since Ultrabooks are the new 'in-things', I decided to make a review on one.
In this review, I'll be giving you a lowdown on the technical specifications of the Dell XPS 13. And as usual, I'll also be giving my personal verdict.

Design- Whoever designed the XPS 13 deserves a thumbs up, because we've never seen a laptop so elegantly crafted. It boats a 13.3 inch HD Truelife WLED display and above the screen is a 1.3 MP HD Webcam. The XPS 13 comes a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port with PowerShare, a mini-display port, a headset jack and a power jack. There is no internal Optical Disk Drive, so you won't be able to play external video/image/music files.

Build Quality- Dell has taken a lot of care to make the XPS 13 sturdy, without adding any unnecessary weight. It's constructed from silver anodized aluminium and is a unibody, so you're the internal hardware and battery are safely locked away. Edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla glass protects the screen from any scratches or even damage from falls. From this we can conclude that the XPS 13 is by far the coolest looking tank which can compute.

Functionality- The Dell XPS 13 comes in three variants, each with different configurations in their internal hardware. Depending on the configuration of your choice, the laptop is powered by either a 1.6 GHz 2nd Gen Intel Core i5 processor or a 1.7 GHz  i7 processor. Coupled with Turbo Boost 2.0 you get a total of 2.3 and 2.8 GHz of speed, respectively. All three models run on Windows 7 Home Premium(64-bit). They function very smoothly with an onboard RAM of  4 Gigabytes. The cheaper model of the i5 series has a Solid State Drive of 128 GB, while the other two variants come with 256 GB of Solid State Drive. With all the above specs, you are guaranteed a premium personal computing experience. They also come with decent Intel HD Graphics 3000, which is enough for medium range gaming. The XPS 13 has support for Intel Centrino Wireless and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity. The HD camera does a swell job for making video calls.

Pricing- Ultrabooks these days are heavily priced. The Dell XPS 13 is no exception with a price tag of $999(USD), $1299(USD) and $1499(USD) for the i5(128 GB), i5(256 GB) and i7(256 GB) variants respectively.

The Verdict- Overall, we could really see the effort Dell has made to give its consumers the XPS 13. It never failed to impress us in matters concerning design, build quality. It's everything an Ultrabook would wish to be, boasting the latest technology along with a premium choice of materials. If you're going to buy the XPS 13, rest assured you won't be disappointed.
