The Nokia Lumia 800- NOtably stylish, creatively smart

This phone is Nokia's maiden attempt to partner with Microsoft and give us a Windows Phone. Armed with its sleek, uber cool looks and features under the hood, the Lumia aims to dominate the smartphone market.
In this review, I'll be critically analyzing the Nokia Lumia 800 on the basis of design, build quality, functionality and pricing after which i will give a final verdict.

Design- The Nokia Lumia 800 is simply a visual treat. It comes in a variety of colours and we just kept looking at the phone for a few minutes even before using it. It sports a 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen protected by amazingly durable Gorilla glass. It also comes with the standard windows phone icons (Home, Back and Search) which are evenly distributed at the bottom. The Lumia has a unibody construction ,i.e, a single piece design with no back panel. At the back is a 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and dual LED flash and a special Carl-Zeiss lens to add to the clarity.

Build Quality- Nokia's main priority has always been build quality without compromising any of the phone's assets. The Lumia is protected by some really good plastic that adds a nice sheen to the phone's overall look. Thanks to the the unibody construction, you won't have to fidget with the back panel to insert the sim card or the memory card, they just pop out of the phone. The Lumia's screen is also protected by Gorilla glass which will ensure that it  won't scratch even when dropped- either by mistake or purposely.

Functionality- The Nokia Lumia 800 was one of the most powerful phone we have ever reviewed. It's 1.4 GHz Scorpion Qualcomm Snapdragon processor makes the system really responsive to the touch. It features the latest Windows Operating System, the Mango OS(version 7.5), which  is definitely much, much, much better than the Symbian OS.The user interface of the Lumia is a very eye- catching one with coloured tiles on the home screen. It can be completely customized as per the user's wishes which is what we like the most about all Windows Phones. But, due the slightly small screen the tiles seem to be a little congested and the black section with the right indication arrow(takes you to app list) eats up a lot of space. Other than that the browsing experience is well..........pretty sub-standard. We could view web pages but the phone did not have any Flash support; in the Lumia's price range most other phones come with Flash support. The camera is pretty good and you can click some good pics and customize your camera settings for effects.

Pricing- The Nokia Lumia 800 comes with a premium price tag. Priced at $440(USD), we thought that the manufacturer would make the phone support Flash content, but that was not to be.

The Verdict- Overall, the Nokia Lumia 800 packs very contemporary looks and a powerful chip set which will always adhere to your needs. With the only let downs of the slightly small screen and the inability to support Flash content, the Lumia is a good venture by Nokia and Microsoft. If you don't like the pricing a lot, you can go in for a Lumia 710, yeah it lacks the looks and it has an inferior 5mpx camera, but at $290(USD), you can't ask for anything more.
