The HTC DROID Incredible was a really incredible phone and HTC has tried to revive its incredibility through the Incredible 2.
In this review I'll be critically analyzing the HTC DROID Incredible on the basis of design, build quality, functionality and pricing after which I will give a final verdict.Design- The Incredible 2 sports very bold looks, and it is clearly shown through the protruding back panel. It boasts a 4 inch Super LCD capacitive touchscreen which gives out some vibrant colours. The phone is button less and only has soft navigation keys namely- Home, Menu, Back and Search which are located close to the edge which may cause accidental pressing. You have a distinct volume rocker on the left side along with a mini USB port and a power button(which is a bit difficult to press) on the top. At the front is a 1.3 MP camera and there is an 8 MP autofocus camera with dual LED flash at the back.
Build Quality- The Incredible 2 has a soft touch coating on the back and around the border as well which gives it a clean look throughout. It may have the tendency to slip(since the coating is smooth), but it won't cause any permanent physical damage to the phone.
Functionality- The HTC DROID Incredible 2 is powered by a 1GHz Scorpion Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which functions fluidly. It runs on Android 2.2 Froyo which was a bit of a letdown(we expected 2.3 Gingerbread).It has an on board RAM of 750 Megabytes which isn't as high as those offered by other high end phones, but it gets the job done. It functions through the HTC Sense user interface which is highly customizable and thanks to the processor it can support live wallpapers with the utmost ease. The web browser supports HTML and Flash and pinch-to-zoom gestures as well as kinetic scrolling are smooth. The front facing 1.3 MP camera enables video calling and the 8 MP camera at the back shoots some decent pictures and the dual LED flash does a good job in adding a good amount of light to objects in dark places. Connectivity wise the Incredible 2 has a poor signal reception which is always below two bars and regularly fluctuates. When the phone is flipped to landscape mode, the navigation icons also flip to that direction; we thought that this was a pretty neat feature.
Pricing- For its features, the HTC DROID Incredible 2 is incredibly well priced, coming with a price tag of $410(USD). To get an even lower price tag, you can purchase the Incredible 2 for only $200(USD) on contract with carriers such as Verizon.
The Verdict- Overall, the HTC DROID Incredible 2 is a great phone. It has bold looks, a good camera and an eye catching price tag. We only thought that the phone should have run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and it really needed a good signal reception. However, according to the latest news, the HTC DROID Incredible 2 is going to receive an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade which is by far the best OS we have ever used.
