The Samsung Galaxy Nexus- The NEX(t) big thing

Finally, we get to see what an ICS exclusive phone looks like, along with our regular Samsung goodies. In case you do not know what ICS means, it stands for Ice Cream Sandwich which is the latest Android Operating System(version 4.0.1).
In this review I'll be critically analyzing the Nexus on the basis of design, build quality, functionality and pricing after which I will give a final verdict.

Design- The Galaxy Nexus packs a stylish look and will definitely leave a good impression. The most stunning feature of the Nexus is that except the power button, no other buttons or soft keys are present on the device. This is something really new which we did not expect from Samsung but it seems to be a part of Google's ICS key less interface. It sports a 4.65 inch super AMOLED display and an amazing 720x1280 pixel resolution giving a High Definition look to icons on the phone.

Build Quality- Samsung has stuck to the motto of providing functionality along with safety. Yes, the back panel is made of some really flimsy plastic, but that doesn't spoil the whole look of the phone and besides the textured back panel facilitates grip, so you can't really complain. The Nexus, like most Samsung handsets can take quite a beating from the elements and isn't likely to break even after a 4 foot face down drop.

Functionality- Now here comes the best part; the Ice Cream Sandwich OS is one of the most fascinating we have ever laid eyes on. The interface is smooth, crisp and amazing to the touch. So, where are all the buttons? On the screen itself ,yes you read that right, on the screen. you have the regular Home and Back icons with a new Multi-tasking icon on the right. The phone can run live wallpapers without causing much lag on the system. There are customizable apps and the back of the phone is a 5megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, nothing great but you can still shoot some decent looking pictures if you're a happy snapper. The 1.2 GHz Dual core Cortex A9 chipset gave us an amazing browsing experience; it also allowed us to view flash content.

Pricing- You get the good stuff if you shell out more, the Galaxy Nexus is priced at a premium rate of $565(USD). But with the fact that this phone pleased us so much and the amazing ICS OS, we wouldn't mind the price tag. Just go for it.

The Verdict- Overall, the sleek looks, the fast processor coupled with the amazing Ice Cream Sandwich OS a really good phone and a good partnership between Samsung and Google. However, if you're still in love with Gingerbread, you can always go in for the Samsung Galaxy SII which which costs a few more Dollars but packs a better camera.
